Going to the pool, beach or lake this summer? We advise that you skip out on sharing towels. Here’s why:
First, towels trap bacteria. Time magazine reports that “ every time you use a towel, you transfer your natural skin bacteria, and any other germs you’re carrying, onto their surface.”
When sharing towels, bacteria and fungus transfer —especially if the towels are wet. Robert Anolik MD, states that “Wet towels can carry bacteria and fungus” and can spread via “ pores, cuts, sores, and wounds.” One skin condition that could be transferred is acne! Who knew?
Prevent acne and pimples by bringing your own towel.
